No cake making is unnecessary.

Nice bundt cake.

How did it come out? As hoped, too moist, too dry?

No such thing as unnecessary cake.

Also, Aldi surprises me with the good stuff you can find there.

Surprisingly good! It didn’t have high altitude corrections so I guessed and it was pretty close.

Yeah, the closest Aldi is like 8 hours away so some effort went into getting the box mix!

There’s one right on my way home.  It’s obviously a discount chain, but when I go in, they have decent produce for cheap.  Also, they have great chocolate.

Nice one.

I’m very fussy about cakes, too dry can make you think you chewing spill-aid powder , too moist can go claddy and stick to the roof of your mouth or around your teeth requiring fingers to scrape them off.

But a good piece of cake with a cup of tea can be heaven.

It’s going well with a nice chocolate stout right now.

Sounds great. Reminds me of a bookshop we have called Bookends. At the back is a cafe called Cakes and Ale where you can have a piece if cake with you cup of tea or coffee, but also with a pint of beer. And they have a working garden out back you can sit in in the summer.

Incorrect, all cakes are necessary...just as it is necessary that I am given a piece of said delicious cake. :P

You have it reversed. Were cakes a necessity, we would not have them.

New Kitchen Aid! They’re so useful - I’m happy for you.

I do almost no baking - really, just Japanese cheesecakes. But I use my KA for whipping the egg whites for that. My KA gets lots of use for other things though. Shredding chicken breast? Kitchen Aid. Quiche/frittatas? Kitchen Aid. Salmon cakes? Kitchen Aid. The machine rocks.

What kind did you get? Tilt-head or the elevator kind? What colour? Does it match your kitchen gear?

OH MY GOD YOU MAKE JAPANESE CHEESECAKES?!? I want to try one of those soooo bad. I’ve googled recipes but I can’t tell if it’s something that needs altitude assistance. I know they’re supposed to dry out really easily.

I picked up a 3.5 quart mini Kitchenaid (tilt) super cheap because it had been returned (unused). It’s...ice blue, maybe? It doesn’t really match my kitchen but on the other hand, anything would. The walls are an awful yellow so anything 50s retro doesn’t look too bad!

High altitude corrections? You learn something new every day.

I think most baking  recipes have minor corrections for over 3,500 ft. It can be adding liquid, adding flour, and sometimes temperature/time adjustments to deal with dryer air. I have an awesome cookbook called Pie in the Sky for homemade stuff but box mixes can be hit or miss. I’ve never gotten pancakes to work here!

Lol. If I lied, would you eat a slice? It’s definitely accidental intermittent-fasting friendly...as in, I forgot lunch today so had a slice while cooking dinner.

If you said it was keto friendly, I would think that if it’s the truth, it will likely taste lousy. And if it tastes good, then it ain’t keto-friendly.

Though I could still have some... if the piece I had was about this big:
